ŞERIFE ÖZATA is currently a faculty member in the Department of Architecture at Samsun University, Türkiye.
She earned her Ph.D. in Architecture at Yildiz Technical University in 2022 with summa cum laude honors, focusing on alkali-activated volcanic tuff in historic masonry buildings, and received the “Best Doctoral Thesis Award”.
Her academic journey included visiting research at Universidad de Navarra (MATCH Group) and nearly a decade as a research assistant at YTU. Her interdisciplinary work explores heritage conservation, sustainable materials, and structural diagnostics—often involving AI, geopolymers, and damage assessment studies.
She has contributed to peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and has patents, and is a member of ICOMOS-ISCARSAH and other heritage networks. She also received a gold medal for innovation in restoration materials.
